Especially after holidays, itβs not uncommon to experience fatigue, loss of energy, and feeling tired.
All this is followed up by a lack of motivation to move and do things, even a loss of purpose.
Which tends to attract lazy thoughts, doubts, indecision, insecurities, and at times even fears, and darker thoughts.
Sounds familiar?
Well, before you go and check in with your βpersonal doctor GPTβ for conditions you might have and labels of βwhatβs wrong with youβ, consider thisβ¦
Could it be that there is nothing wrong with you, and all this is a side effect of being stressed and tired (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
Celebration or stress?
Unfortunately, celebrations and holidays for the general population are very stressful events, that require rest and a recovery period.
Family gathering to enjoy each other’s presence?Β
Yes, and need to perform, and get 3 days of work done in a few hours;
Mixed with a need to organize, communicate, and rely on difficult people.
And then there is a need to make everything perfect. And the need to uphold a perfect host image does not help either. Neither is a worry at the back of the head: what else could go wrong?
How about delicious meals to enjoy oneself in the company of loved ones?
Yes, and often reality is overconsumption of foods and drinks. Bad food combining is not uncommon as well.Β
All this causes mental, emotional, and physical stress.
Our body can take a lot, but at some point, it just needs a break.
But wait, there is more.Β
Avoiding unavoidable
Once your body sees an opportunity to take a break, it takes it. And energy starts to go down. Asking you to slow down, take it easy.
Unfortunately many people at this point decide to avoid the reality and add more stress, instead of assessing the situation and realizing that they already have been running on fumes and itβs time to rest.Β
How?Β
Most try to sweep the early signals of tiredness under the rug and run away from them.
They might try to force them through and push themselves to continue to perform.
Maybe use some stimulants, like coffee, which works well to hide tiredness.Β
As stress builds up, the body starts getting creative to signal that all it needs is a break from stress.
Some psychosomatic conditions can develop. As soon as this happens, most people either continue to avoid and live “as normal” or panic and blame themselves, adding negative self-talk, which is another layer of stress and makes things just worse.Β
I have gone through loops like these myself more than would like to admit.
Give yourself a break
All this is just because of the unregulated nervous system – unmanaged stress, stress that builds up and is stored in the body.Β
To break these unhealthy patterns, I invite you to take general care of yourself and ask yourself simple questions.Β
-
How do I feel?Β
-
How relaxed am I?Β
-
How relaxed is my physical, mental, and emotional body?Β
-
How deep and calm is my breath?
-
How kind am I with myself?
-
How kind is my self-talk?
-
How can I forgive myself and move forward?
And when you catch yourself going down the spiral, the least you can do is not add mental stress by guilting and shaming yourself.Β
Instead, understand that your body is going through a lot, and accept and forgive yourself.
Understand, that it could be just an unregulated nervous system creating all kinds of symptoms.
And if that is the case, then there is a simple next best step: give yourself a break, take your time to breathe.
And if in doubt, ask your body, heart, and intuition: what is the next best step?
Take your time to breathe and be thankfully present to magic in 2025!
Have it magical!
